A group of 70 students from the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB) de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), led by lecturer Sandra Bestraten, have analysed physical accessibility of the neighbourhoods of San Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera Barcelona's old town and propose viable improvements to ensure accessibility. This educational project uses the methodology of service-learning.

The students of the subject “Habitatge i Cooperació” from the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB) (Barcelona Higher Technical School of Architecture) have carried out an extensive planimetric data gathering of the main commercial streets in Vilanova i la Geltrú and also of the access situation to community centers, offering this way a new perspective for the architecture students: the adaptation of the analyzed routes and access for people with disabilities.

The Accessibility Chair from the UPC, together with Fundación Universia, organizes TECNODISCAT; the first workshop on academic research focused on assistive technologies for the personal autonomy.
